Mary Sanger

Mary S. Starlight Sanger, 65, of Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Forest Farm Health Care Center in Middletown.Born in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Sabin P. and Dorothy Stonebraker Sanger of Wellesley, Massachusetts and sister of the late Stuart F. Sanger.Mary was an avid painter and artist, and enjoyed garden design. She was a woman who had a zest for life, a world encompassing heart and a passion for community. She loved to travel and as a younger woman spent many years working in the travel business in the Boston area.She is survived by her brother, Steve Sanger and his wife, Karen, of Portsmouth, NH; her niece, Sarah Sanger; cousins, Sally Stonebraker Grassi, Ned Stonebraker and John Stonebraker; her three cats, Chinni, Sabel and Nephrodite; and many very close friends on Aquidneck Island.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 4-5 pm with a Celebration of Life service at 5 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Inurnment will be held at a future date in the family lot in Wellesley, MA.In lieu of flowers, donations in Marys memory may be made to the Martin Luther King Center, 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd., Newport, RI 02840 or to the Horses Know the Way Home Project at www.horsesknowtheway.com.
