Mary T. (Walsh) Salveti, 81, of Middletown, RI, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 11, 2013 with her family at her side.She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Salveti.Born in Kildare, Ireland on May 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Bridget (Feeney) Walsh.At the age of 17, Mary left Kildare and moved to Bronx, NY where she lived with her late uncle and worked at the A P Supermarket until her marriage to Tony. After a military transfer to Virginia, the first of her seven children were born and then on to Middletown to raise her family. While running the family business, Star Sales and Service with her husband, she also found time to be available to the numerous neighborhood children who knew her as "Ma". Her door was always open. She is survived by her seven children, Vincent M. Salveti and his wife Laurel of Portsmouth, RI, John Salveti and his wife Melissa of Spokane Valley, WA, Jean M. Salveti of Newport, RI, Loretta C. Santangelo of Newport, RI, Theresa M. Paquin and her husband Douglas Sr. of Middletown, RI, Patricia A. Sousa-Cooper of Middletown, RI, and Maureen B. Finn of Naples, FL; eleven grandchildren, Amanda Salveti, Alicia and Michael Marcello, Douglas Jr., Brian and Lauren Paquin, Timothy and Bridget Sousa, Shannon Cooper and Paige and Jason Salveti; six great-grandchildren, John Genga IV, Christian Salveti, Douglas J., Jordan, Kierra and Jaden Paquin; four brothers, John, Matthew and Joseph Walsh, all of Ireland, and Christopher Walsh of New York; two sisters, Loretta Johnson of Ireland and Phyllis Sullivan of New York; two brothers-in-law, Domenic and Joseph Salveti; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Patrick Walsh.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 8 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Christian Mass at 9 am in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Street at Memorial Blvd., Newport, RI.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America Inc., 355 Lexington Avenue, 15th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
