Mary Teves

Mary Jordan Teves, 100, formerly of 37 Bliss Mine Road, Middletown, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Grand Islander Health Care Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late Manuel Teves.Born in Portugal on February 17, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Antone and Julia Almeida Jordan.Mrs. Teves worked for many years as a nanny before retiring and was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport.She is survived by two brothers, Joseph Jordan of Middletown, RI and John Jordan of New Baltimore, MI; nine grandchildren, Pamela Little of Portsmouth, RI, Timothy Teves of Middletown, RI, Jeffrey Teves of Portsmouth, RI, Richard Teves of Denver, CO, Jean Thompson of Lacrosse, WI, Jennifer Stephens of Albertville, AL, Thomas Kelly of West Burke, VT, Timothy Kelly of Barrington, RI and Lynn Kelly of Newport, RI; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late John Teves and Dr. Arthur Teves and the sister of the late Frank, Tony and Alfred Jordan, and Evelyn Mendoza and Ida Jordan. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 12 noon in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 10 am - 12 noon just prior to the funeral service.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNS of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
