Mary Theresa Leyden

Mary Theresa (Silvia) Leyden, 94, of Middletown died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Thomas Leyden.Born on December 11, 1922 in Middletown, RI, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Medeiros) Silvia. After accompanying her husband Tom in his military career, they settled in Middletown. Mary was a longtime communicant of St. Lucy's Church. Mary enjoyed taking her daily walks, reading, attending art classes and practicing Tai Chi. She was a beautiful lady and a loving person who remained young at heart.She is survived by her sisters Flora Borsare and Gloria Silvia and several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Frank Moniz, Manuel "Mike" Silvia, Anthony Moniz, Rose Rosa and Jesse Silvia.Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 17 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
