She was the wife of the late Hurley O. Saxon. Born in El Paso, TX on April 26, 1919, she was the adopted daughter of the late William and Margaret Erwin Poppenhusen. Mrs. Saxon grew up in El Paso, Texas where she was a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. After moving to Portsmouth, she became a member of the Portsmouth Senior Center and a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. She is survived by her son Patrick Saxon of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter-in-law Kaycee Saxon of Portsmouth, RI and a grandson Mark Saxon currently of Tempe, Arizona. She is preceded in death by two brothers Harold and Melvyn Poppenhusen.Her funeral will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Fort Bliss Veterans Cemetery in El Paso, Tx at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871, or to the Visiting Nurse Service of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871
