MIDDLETOWN, RI - Mary White McCaughey, 92, of 1319 Green End Avenue, Middletown, RI, formerly of Pawtucket, RI, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of Edward McCaughey of Middletown. Born in Boston, MA on January 25, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Helena Tierney White. Mrs. McCaughey worked as an administrative assistant for Dr. Austin White in Middletown for 10 years. Mrs. McCaughey was a member of St. Lucy?s Church. Mary was a master bridge player and taught bridge at the Newport Naval Base. She traveled all over the globe to participate in bridge tournaments. She loved being at the beach, usually seen at Second Beach in Middletown. Besides her husband of 63 years she is survived by her nieces and nephews Austin White of Middletown, RI, Paula White Connolly of Needham, MA, Thomas White of Reading, CT, Kevin White of Providence, RI, Jane Flatley Jackson of El Paso, TX, and Carol Flatley O Coin of East Providence, RI. She was the mother of the late Edward McCaughey Jr., the sister of the late Austin White, Thomas White and Grace L. Flatley and aunt of the late Diane White. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 9:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 8:00-8:30 in the funeral home.
