Newport, RI - MaryAnn Silvia Young, 80, of 6 Bayview Avenue, Newport, formerly of 54 Chatworth Avenue, Warwick, RI, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Harold Nyce Young. Born in Middletown, RI on October 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Manuel M. and Georgianna DeMello Silvia. Mrs. Young worked as an attendant at the Rhode Island Medical Center IMH Dixs Building in Cranston, RI for 24 years. She was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. Mrs. Young was a volunteer at the Middletown Senior Center. She was an avid gardener, and loved to knit and crochet. She is survived by her brother Manuel Silvia Jr. of CT, four sisters Georgianna Rodrigues and Louise Perry both of Middletown, RI, Dorothy Hagan of OH, and Florence Fuentez of TX, two granddaughters Tina Reynolds of Portsmouth, RI, and Lisa Murgo of Middletown, RI, and her grandson Alfred J. Silvia Jr. of FL.She was the mother of the late Alfred J. Silvia and the sister of the late Anthony Silvia and Alfred Joseph Silvia.Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004, at 9:00 AM in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be private. Donations in her memory may by made to the Robert Potter League For Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
