Matthew Park, Jr. Portsmouth, RI - Matthew Park, Jr., 74, of 2368 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Manhattan, NY, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Barbara Kymer Park and the late Mary Hart Park. Born in Newport, RI on February 12, 1934, he was the son of the late Matthew and Margaret Martin Park.Mr. Park was a 1952 graduate of Rogers High School and a 1957 graduate of Bryant College. He served in the United States Army. Matthew worked in advertising as a human resource manager for 15 years for J. Walter Thompson Company in Manhattan, NY. He was a 1957 graduate of Bryant College. Matthew was a member of St. Marys Episcopal Church and a volunteer for the Portsmouth Fire Department. He was an avid golfer, Red Sox Fan and New York Giant fan. He is survived by his son Scott Park and his wife Victoria of San Ramon, CA, his daughter Hillary Park of Macungie, PA, his sister Dorothy Stone and her husband Carlton of Portsmouth, RI, his grandchildren, Tanya Park, Cassidy Park, Kathryn Prescott Park and Jonathan Kymer Park, his nephews Stephen Stone and Kenneth Stone both of Portsmouth, RI and Brian Stone of West Haven, CT, his niece Cynthia Stone Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, his great nieces and nephews Ashton and his wife Jill, Kevin, Daniel, Dylan, Jessie, Eric and Cameron and his companion Noreen Barnhart of Portsmouth, RI. A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2008, from 11:00 - 1:00 with a prayer service at 12:30 in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Dept. Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
