Maureen E. Tefft

Maureen E. Tefft, 61, of Beaufort, South Carolina passed away on August 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born in Newport, Rhode Island to the late Michael Joseph Brennan and Muriel Jane Brennan of Portsmouth, RI. In 1974 she married her husband Michael John Tefft. They have two children, Christopher Michael Tefft and Gretchen Nicole Vance. Maureen was employed in many different careers over the years; although she always considered her most important job to be a mother. She exceled at everything she set her mind to and enjoyed being involved in her community. She volunteered with the Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry for many years teaching English and was also a member of the Photography Club of Beaufort. Maureen's love of travel and appreciation of other cultures brought her and her husband on numerous adventures around the world, including living in Australia for three years with their children. She was a talented cook and through her work as a CrossFit coach, she inspired others to improve their health and fitness through nutrition. She is survived by many loving family members including her husband Michael; her son Chris and his partner Paul of Sydney, Australia; daughter Gretchen and her husband Rob, and their son Zebulon of Greenville, SC; her mother Muriel and brothers and sisters, Michael, Kathy and Peter of Portsmouth, RI.Funeral services will be held at Connors Funeral Home 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, RI on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 10 am.
