Melinda Arcieri Dupont, 63, of Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Ronald R. Dupont.Born in Newport, RI, on February 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. and Barbara Beans Arcieri.Mrs. Dupont was a graduate of Rogers High School, Arthur Angelo?s School of Hairdressing, and Bristol Community College with an Associates Degree in Business Management. With 42 years of hairdressing experience, she started her career at Loui?s Beauty Salon, owning and operating it for 10 years, and closed the business in 1997. She then worked at Newport Hair Quarters for 6 years and relocated to Shear Power until retiring in 2007. She attended the former St. George?s Episcopal Church from youth until marriage and more recently St. Peter?s Lutheran Church. She was a Worthy Advisor with the Rainbow Girls, a Mother Advisor with the Order of the Eastern Star, a Cub Scout Den Mother and the first female Weblos leader. She also served on the board as Vice President of Island Cemetery in Newport. Melinda enjoyed the past 21 years vacationing in Aruba with her extended beach family.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Todd E. Dupont; 5 nieces, 6 nephews, 5 great-nieces and 8 great-nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles I. Arcieri, Peter J. Arcieri, Richard B. Arcieri and Joanne Tuttle. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 12 noon in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial in Island Cemetery in Newport will be private.Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
