Michael Edward Galli, 40, of 61A Unity Drive Middletown, formerly of Newport, Rhode Island, died Friday, July 12, 2002 at home. He was the husband of Bonnie Jean Burke Galli. Born in Landstuhl, Germany on December 8, 1961, he was the son of Florence Marie Hole Galli of Newport and the late Robert Edward Galli Sr.Mr. Galli was a fisherman working on various boats in the Newport area for the past five years, including the ?Diamond Girl Fisheries? red crabbing for the past 2 years and most recently as a machinist at General Dynamics Electric Boat for the past 6 months. Mr. Galli was a 1980 graduate of Rogers High School. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Newport. Mr. Galli served in the United States Marine Corps, during Desert Storm. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Meritorious Mast, the National Defense Service Medal, the Rifle Expert Bandge and the Pistol Expert Badge. He was presently serving with the Army Reserve. Mr. Galli was a familyman who enjoyed music, gardending, all sporting activities and boating with his family. Besides his wife and mother he is survived by his step son Warren Anthony Moniz III of Middletown, RI, two brothers Robert Edward Galli Jr. of Buffalo, NY, and Richard Edward Galli of Sacremento, CA, two sisters Donna Frederick of Springfield, MA, and Marie Tuttle of Middletown, RI, five nephews and four nieces.His funeral with full Military Honors will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at 9:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a service at 10:00 in St. John The Evangelist Church, Washington Street, Newport. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter. Donations in his memory may be made to St. John The Evangelist Church, 61 Poplar Street, Newport, RI 02840..
