Michael J. Kelly

Middletown, RI - Michael J. Kelly, 92, of 50 Trout Drive, Middletown, RI, formerly of 51 Annandale Road, Newport, RI, died Friday, April 14, 2006 at home. He was the husband of Kathleen Tiernan Kelly. Born in Newport, RI, on September 19, 1913, he was the son of the late Mortimer and Ellen Donnelly Kelly.Mr. Kelly was a graduate of DeLaSalle Academy and ran the cafeteria for several years, before joining the United States Navy for World War II. After the war he worked for S. Adelson and Newport Tobacco until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Kelly was a member of the Newport Elks and the Newport Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Hazards Beach. Besides his wife of 64 years he is survived by his children, James M. Kelly of Clifton, VA, Paula Bertolotti of Cos Cob, CT, and Penny Collins of Sparta, NJ, his grandchildren Christy Kelly, Kerry Kelly, Amy Adorney, Sarah Trager, Michael Bertolotti, Leah Bertolotti, Jena Bertolotti, Philip Collins, Matthew Collins, Daniel Collins and Kelly Collins, and five great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006, from 4-8p.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home.
