WEST WARWICK, RI - Michael Jay Carraway, 54, of West Warwick, RI, formerly of Grafton, WI and Rhinelander, WI, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at home He was the former husband of Marilyn Kleist Carraway. Born in Port Washington, WI, on April 11, 1951, he was the son of Marian Hennings Carraway of Ft. Meyers, FL, formerly of Grafton, WI and the late Taft Carraway. Michael was a 1960 graduate of Grafton High School, he attended Moraine Park Technical Institute of West Bend, WI an he completed the U.S. Navy A C Schools in San Diego, CA. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war serving in the United States Navy, from 1972 to 1974. He worked at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI, from 1975 to 1982, after his 1st Navy service, he re-entered the service in 1982 in Key West, FL, and in 1984 came to Newport. Michael previously worked at the Newport Naval War College and was working at Salve Regina College for the last 4 years in the maintenance department. He loved baseball, football, history, old movies especially John Wayne Classics. Michael enjoyed nature walks with his daughter, listening to talk radio and he was an avid reader. He is survived by his children Jason Carraway of Rhinelander, WI, Rachel Carraway, David Carraway, and John Carraway all of Newport, RI and his sister Rebecca Peacock her husband Trevor Peacock and their daughter, Michael?s niece, Michelle Peacock of Bellevue, NE, 2 aunt?s other relatives and friends along with his close friends Darren and Loretta Terpening of West Warwick, RI with whom he resided. Also he leaves friends and colleagues of Salve Regina University. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at 11:00AM in St. Peter?s Lutheran Church, 525 Broadway, Newport RI. Following the Service a luncheon will be provided below the church proper. Burial will be private. Online condolences:
