Michael S. Longazel, 68, of Middletown, RI, formerly of Newport, RI, passed away on December 21, 2024, in Newport Hospital.
Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late John N. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Bradfield) Longazel. He grew up in Raymond, NH, surrounded by the scenic beauty of New England, where he cultivated a passion for sports and fitness early in life. He graduated from high school in 1975, earning the distinction of Track Star, and was especially proud of his achievements as the Field and High Jumping Champion for two consecutive years. Throughout his life, he remained a devoted football fan and an avid fitness enthusiast, always finding joy in working out and staying active.
In his early twenties, Michael relocated to Newport, embracing life by the sea. He pursued various interests, including his love for antique cars, particularly his cherished '67 Chevy Camaro, his "baby," a reflection of his passion and pride. He was a familiar face around town, whether working on the shipyard, or as a delivery driver for China Star in Middletown where he worked for 25 years. He was known and will be remembered for his sense of humor and light-hearted jokes; he had an infectious laughter and a playful spirit, always ready with a joke that could light up any room.
Michael is survived by his cousins; Glenn Bradfield, Dina Bradfield, his aunt; Rose Bradfield, his close friends; Jennifer Macedo, of Middletown, Steve and Stacey, of Newport, Crystal and Joel, of NH, and Sharon, of NH.
In addition to his parents, Michael is preceded in death by his brothers, John W. Longazel and Dale R. Longazel.
Services for Michael will be held privately.
