Michael Thomas Leary, 71, formerly of Pleasant Street, Newport, died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at RI Veterans Home of Bristol, RI. Mr. Leary was born March 14, 1945 in Newport, RI, the son of the late John A. and Anita M. (Smith) Leary. Mr. Leary served in the United States Army and loved his service. He was a member of the Elks and an avid Golfer.He is survived by his brother-in-law Joseph O'Hanley and his nieces and nephews Stephanie A. OHanley, Jerome O'Hanley, Sean O'Hanley, Kathleen Hale-Kelly Fontes and Kimberly Smith.He was the brother of the late Francis M. Leary and Anita S. O'Hanley.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016, from 10-11am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI followed by a service at 11am.Burial with Military honors will be held in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
