Mildred Bessie Mckenna

Newport, RI - Mildred Bessie McKenna, 94, of 6 Green Lane Newport, formerly of 168 Newport Avenue, Middletown, died Monday, December 27, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Charles J. McKenna. Born in North Providence, RI on February 1, 1910, she was the daughter of the late William T. Smith and the late Maria Huckle Smith. Mrs. McKenna was an accounting clerk with the Providence Washington Insurance Company in Providence, RI. She previously worked for the torpedo station on Goat Island and at the Quonset Point Naval Station from 1925-1941. Mrs. McKenna was a member of the Senior Friendship Club of Newport and attended the Evangelical Friends Church of Middletown. She was a member of the Park Holm Senior Center and the Edward King Senior Center of Newport. She is survived by many friends, including Rhoda McSparren and Midge Van Patten both of Newport, RI. She was preceded in death by her sister Helen Huff. Her funeral will be held Thursday, December 30, 2004, at 11:00 AM in Evangelical Friends Church, 70 Bliss Mine Road, Middletown.
