PORTSMOUTH, RI - Mildred D. Silvia Viera, 83, of 46 Norwood Avenue, Portsmouth, RI died Saturday May 7, 2005 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Manuel Viera. Born in Portsmouth, RI on May 7, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Emily Nunes Silvia. Mildred was a cooks assistant for the State School Lunch Program. Prior to working for the State of Rhode Island, she worked at Portsmouth Abbey School as a Telephone Operator. Mildred was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church for 59 years. She was a member of the former St. Anthonys Womens Guild. Mildred was an avid gardener. She is survived by her two daughters Shirley Chace and her husband Ronald; Kathleen Viera Beaudoin and her husband Armand all of Portsmouth, RI; her siblings Manuel Silvia of Covina, CA, Joseph Silvia of Portsmouth, RI, Ann Reynolds of Middletown, RI, Clara Benevides and Emily Mathais both of Portsmouth, RI, her granddaughter Barbara Sherman of Portsmouth, RI, and her great grandsons Nicholas Sherman, Michael Sherman and Zachary Sherman all of Portsmouth, RI. She was also sister of the late Maryann Silvia, Josephine Perry, Mary Raposa and William Silvia. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 9:00am, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-8pm in the funeral home. In Mildreds memory donations may be made to the Portsmouth Volunteer Fire Dpt. Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
