PORTSMOUTH, RI - Mildred Dorothy Jensen Shuttlesworth Morris, 94, of the Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, formerly of 71 Canonchet Drive, Portsmouth, died Monday, December 12, 2005, at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Elmer Shuttlesworth and the Late John Morris. Born in Delphus, KA on September 25, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mae Noel Jensen.Mrs. Morris was a Nebraska farm wife. She was also the owner and operator of the former Tasty Caf in Nebraska, a manager at McCloud Hotel in York, NB for many years and a house mother at Epworth Village in York. Mrs. Morris was a volunteer with Sertoma Club in Nebraska, where she was voted Woman of the Year. She was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as President and a life member of the DAR and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Morris loved spending time with her grandchildren and she was an avid gardener. She is survived by her son Jack and his wife Dianne Shuttlesworth of Portsmouth, RI, three grandchildren Lisa Holstein of Coventry, RI, Mari Shuttlesworth and Scott Shuttlesworth of Portsmouth, RI, four great grandchildren Benjamin Shuttlesworth and Angell Shuttlesworth of Portsmouth, RI and Kara Holstein and Shelby Holstein of Coventry, RI and her great-great grandson Christian Shuttlesworth of Portsmouth, RI.She was the mother of the late Jeannie Shuttlesworth, the sister of the late Vern Jensen, Ernie Jensen, Archie Jensen, Nadine Houston and Ann Alexander and the grandmother of the late Todd Shuttlesworth. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2005, at 10:00AM, in St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Pauls Epsicopal Church, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
