Mildred I. "Millie" O'Brien Perugini, 83, formerly of 13 Robinson Street, Newport, RI, died on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Blenheim-Newport with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Perugini, Sr., who passed away in 1968.Born in Newport, RI on November 4, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Theresa M. (Lang) O'Brien, Sr.Mrs. Perugini worked for the New England Telephone Company and predecessor companies for forty-two years in various capacities before retiring as a service representative for Verizon 1991. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the A.A.R.P. Millie was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Newport for many years. She attended St. Augustine's School and was a proud graduate of St. Catherine's Academy. When her sons were young, Millie was active with the Cub Scouts as a Den Mother and also with Little League Baseball. She was also a financial contributor to many charitable organizations.Millie is survived by her two sons, Joseph F. Perugini and his wife Barbara of Glendale, AZ and Michael T. Perugini, Sr., of Middletown, RI; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Joseph, Katie, Kyle, Todd and Kayla; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Liam, Cameron and Ethan; and her brother, John J. O'Brien of Trinity, FL.A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for her on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Jesus Saviour Church in Newport. Burial followed in St. Columba Catholic Cemetery in Middletown.
