Mildred J. Close Jaynes Pires 85 of Harrison Avenue Newport, formerly of Girard Avenue Newport died Sunday, April 30, 2006 in the Village House Nursing and Subacute Center, Newport.She was the wife of the late John J. Pires and former wife of the late Alexander J. Jaynes.Born in Boston, MA on June 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Stella Greene Close.Mrs. Pires was a leader in the Four H Club for many years. She was a member of the Newport Senior Center and was an avid Bingo player.She leaves her children June L. Myers of Lancaster, PA, Barbara A. Owens of Plymouth, MA, Mildred ?Peggy? Kelley of Quincy, MA, Shirley A. Florendo of Portsmouth, VA, Ronald A. Jaynes of Weymouth, MA, Diane C. Polley of Middletown, RI, Alice M. Berry of Newport, RI, Richard E. Pires of Newport, RI, John K. Pires of Saratoga, FL, Joseph A. Pires of Middletown, RI and Robert B. Pires of Portsmouth, RI. She also leaves her brother Frank Close of Hartford, CT and her sister Barbara Meuse of Malden, MA. She leaves fifty grandchildren and forty one great grandchildren.Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be in the funeral home Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m.Burial will take place in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown.
