Milford Ashworth

Milford V. Ashworth, 88, of 333 Green End Avenue, Middletown, formerly of 46 Foxboro Avenue, Portsmouth,, died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, RI. He was the husband of the late Marion E.Straw Ashworth. Born in Milford, MA on Oct. 8, 1913, he was the son of the late John T. Ashworth and Edith Ashworth. Mr. Ashworth had served in the Merchant Marines, he then went to work for Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, MA., as a Carpenter and Painter retiring in 1984. He had also served on the Vestry of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Portsmouth, RI and was the Church sexton as well. He enjoyed working with his hands and always helped other people. He is survived by one daughter Joan Elaine Coggeshall of Tiverton, RI; one brother Walter Ashworth of Swansea, MA ; one granddaughter Lorie Lemos of Tiverton, RI, and three great grandchildren. Mr. Asworth was the brother of the late Florence Barlow and Ruth Fitcher, and grandfather of the late Gardner Scott Coggeshall. His funeral will be held Wednesday, Apr. 17, at 11:00 am in St. Paul?s Episcopal Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Burial will be in St. Pauls Churchyard in Portsmouth, RI.
