M. Lynne Grinnell Carson PORTSMOUTH, RI ? Miriam Lynne Grinnell Carson, 51, of 57 Atlantic Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Barrington, RI, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Newport Hospital, in Newport, RI surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Newport, RI on October 17, 1954, she was the daughter of Kenneth Grinnell Sr. of Portsmouth, RI and the late Janet Spurr Grinnell. Lynne grew up in Swampscott, MA, before moving to Rhode Island. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School Class of 1972. She loved to collect sea glass and always felt most at peace near the water. She was an an avid reader, loved to sing and play the piano. A loving mother, she is survived by her children Lauren Marie Carson, 25, of Providence, RI, Suzanne Elizabeth Carson, 21, Michele Emily Carson, 14, and Brian M.J. Carson-Ames, age 12, all of Portsmouth, RI, her father Kenneth Grinnell Sr. of Portsmouth, RI, and her brothers Kenneth Grinnell Jr. of Manchester, NH, and James Grinnell of Portsmouth, RI. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11 at 11:00am in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
