Anthony E. Simmons

Anthony E. Simmons, age 44, of Newport passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Newport Hospital of Newport, RI. Anthony was born March 26, 1968 in Newport, graduated from Rogers High School, and lived in Newport his entire life. After high school, he took several art classes at CCRI, developing his talents as a gifted illustrator, doing cartoons and sketches. Most of his working career was in the boat building industry, working for TPI in Warren, and most recently for New England Boatworks in Portsmouth. He also enjoyed spending time at one of the many fishing spots around Newport.He is survived by two sons Anthony Carter of Newport, Devin Simmons of Newport, and a daughter Tiara Carter of Newport; his mother Joyce (Simmons) Turner of Westerly, his grandmother Daisy M Perryman of Portsmouth, VA, two sisters Joyce L. Dixon of Fall River, MA, and Pamela Woods of Norfolk, VA, one brother Ernest Simmons of Newport, and brother in law Samuel Dixon of Fall River. He is brother of the late Michael Simmons and stepson of the late Theodore I. Turner. He also leaves behind his friend Kim French of Newport, a companion Tiffany Blythe of Newport, a niece, great niece, nephews and a host of family and friends.Calling hours will be held Friday, December 14, from 6:00-9:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Anthony's services will be Saturday, December 15 with visitation from 10:00-11:00am in the church and the Funeral Service at 11:00, in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport.
