Anthony Silvia, 88, of Bliss Road, Newport died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Blenheim Newport of Middletown. Anthony was born May 5, 1927 in Newport, RI, the son of the late Frank R. and Mary (Garcia) Silvia. He was the husband of the late Kathryn (Bohn) Siliva. Tony grew up in Newport and joined the Navy as a young man. He served until the end of the war, including one tour at sea in the Philippines. During his time in the Navy he learned the refrigeration skills, which he turned into a lifelong career. He was the owner of A. Silvia Refrigeration and called upon many well know restaurants and stores around Newport. He was a familiar sight to many while on his near daily walks of Cliff Walk. His extended family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Blenheim Newport for their care of Tony since he arrived there in June.He is survived by several nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his wife Kay, and his siblings, Frank, Manuel, Joseph, Raymond, and Henry Silvia, Mary Pasquale, and Ann Calibani.Burial services with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, March 3 at 12:30pm at Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Chapel, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
