Ernest L. Christensen

Ernest L. Christensen, age 65, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his home. Ernie was born January 4, 1947 in Providence, RI. He is the son of the late Mary Shirley Kivlehan.He was the beloved husband of Jane (Salvador) Christensen for 40 years. Ernest grew up in Newport. He entered the Army at the age of 18. Following his time in the service, Ernest worked for the Newport Creamery and they helped him earn his degree. He graduated from the New England Technical College and received master licenses in Pipefitting and HVAC. After 35 years at the Newport Creamery, he then continued his career with Wyndam Resorts. Ernest was a devoted husband, a kind and loving man, who greatly enjoyed his family and friends, his home, and his Golden Retriever Ty.He is survived by his wife: Jane (Salvador) Christensen, a brother in law, John Sadler and his wife Francesca of Hingham, MA, and nieces and nephews: Jennifer Arthur of Cape Cod, MA; Elizabeth Sadler of Washington, DC; Christopher Sadler of Hingham, MA; Alan Sadler of Attleboro, MA; Steven Sadler of Boston, MA; and Curtis Kriner of Las Vegas, NV.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 from 3:00-6:00pm, in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth RI 02871, with a memorial service at 5:30 p.m in the Connors Funeral Home.
