James Robert Dewick

Newport, RI - James Robert Dewick, 86, of 15 Prescott Hall Road, Newport, RI, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (Doody) Dewick. Born in Newport, RI on January 19, 1926, he was the son of the late Reginald and Lillian (Claver) Dewick. James served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He went to Aviation School in Boston, and also attended URI briefly. James worked for United Airlines for 38 years as an aircraft mechanic. He liked fishing and gardening but loved his Red Sox and Patriots. He is survived by his daughter Jo-Ann B. Kery and her husband Sean of Owings, MD, and his grandchildren, Rachel Kery, Mary Beth Kery, Caroline Kery, John Kery, Thomas Dewick and Mathew Dewick.He was the father of the late James Robert Dewick and brother of the late Carolyn Joan Dewick.Calling hours are omitted.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 10:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
