Roger L. Braley

Roger L. Braley, age 83, of Newport died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at home in Newport. Roger was born November 12, 1931 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Harold C. and the late Eleanor (Oxx) Murphy. He is the husband of Martha Jane (Todd) Braley. Roger is a graduate of Rogers High School. He later served in the Air Force where he was stationed in Caswell Air Force Base in Texas.He was the owner of Bellevue Camera for 40 years. He also worked for many years at Newport Hospital in the security department.He was also involved with the Boy Scouts where he was Scout Master for Troop 82 in Portsmouth and served as District Commissioner in the 1970's. Additionally he enjoyed stamp collecting, trains, and especially loved gardening.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Jane Braley of Newport; his daughters Cheryl Gordon of Middletown, Linda Leonard of Portsmouth;his sons Michael Braley and James Braley, both of Newport; his grandchildren Yvonne Dimech, Cassandra Dimech, Casey Braley, Bryan Braley, and Courtney Braley and two great grandchildren Gavin and Savannah.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 14 from 4:00-7:00pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Ave, Newport. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 10:00am in Middletown Cemetery, Middletown.
