Ada Pedro

Portsmouth, RI - Ada Howarth Pedro, of 15 Cedar Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jesse J. Pedro. They had been married for 65 years at the time of his death. Born on June 4, 1925 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Esther Howarth of Tottington, England. Moving to Tiverton, RI in her early years, she attended Tiverton Schools and Thibodeau's Business School. An avid gardener, she loved the waterfront, was proficient in embroidery, needlepoint and quilting. For a number of years, Ada was a dealer of collectibles and antiques with a shop at the former Island Park Flea Market in Portsmouth. As a yard sale enthusiast, she continued this hobby for the remainder of her life and was well known among the local consignment shops. She deeply cherished her friendships. She is survived by two daughters Barbara and her husband Paul Miguel of Tiverton, Elizabeth A. Pedro of Portsmouth, grandson Michael Miguel, granddaughter Jennifer Miguel, Great grandsons Ethan and Jonathan Miguel and brother Robert Howarth. Also survived by nieces Joanne and husband Ray McCoullough, Lee and husband William Ferreira, Lynn Gardiner, Christine Howarth, Sophie Howarth and husband Dr. Arthur Lyford, Beatrice and husband William Morgan. Also survived by great nephews Ashley and wife Erin Gardiner, Brian and wife Shelley McPheeters and Robert and wife Katherine McPheeters.She was the sister of the late Frank Howarth, Joseph Howarth and David Howarth . Calling hours will be held Wednesday, May 9, at the Connors Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.Her funeral service will be held Thursday, May 10, at 11:00 am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871..
