Alice Florence Reis, age 81, of Newport died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Heatherwood Nursing Center in Newport, RI. Alice was born February 6, 1933 in Quebec, Canada to the late Armand and the late Violet (Grant) LaFlamme.
She was employed as a housekeeper for many years, both in private duty and for the Sheraton and Viking Hotels. In her spare time, Mrs. Reis enjoyed exercising, word search puzzles, and was an avid reader. A great day for Alice might include a ride around the drive or a trip to a flea market. In her younger years, she also enjoyed painting.
She is survived by three daughters: Barbara Showman of Chula Vista, CA, Antonia Carlyon of Providence, RI, Lori Reis of Dartmouth, MA, and one son, Albert John Reis, Jr. of Portsmouth, RI; three sisters: Jane Schiappa in California, Irene Scolovino of Cranston, RI, and Connie David of Coventry, RI and two brothers: George LaFlamme of Seekonk, MA, and Armand LaFlamme, Jr. of Providence, RI. Alice is also survived by her three grandchildren, Mary Reis, Laura Reis , and Eric Showman, as well as one great grandchild.She was preceded in death by her sisters Nellie and Shirley.
Funeral services will be private.
