Anna S Mosher, age 97, of Portsmouth died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at home in Portsmouth. Mrs. Mosher was born February 15, 1915 in Newport, RI. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie Vargas. She was married for 75 years to the late Lloyd A. Mosher. Anna met her husband Lloyd while he was serving in the Navy. After they married, she and Lloyd moved to California and the many other Navy bases throughout his 26 years of active duty. When Lloyd retired from the Navy they moved back to Newport, and later moved into their home of 47 years in Portsmouth. Mrs. Mosher was a communicant of St Barnabas Church, and a member of the Portsmouth Grange. Along with her husband, they looked forward to helping out at the annual St Barnabas Feast.Over the years, Anna knitted hundreds of small blankets and donated them to the Robert Potter League for animals, for the small kittens. She is survived by her two sons Ronald Mosher of Bedford, NH and Gerald Mosher of Goose Creek, SC. She also leaves 8 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and a sister Grace Abbott of Herndon, VA.She is preceded in death by her son Robert Mosher Calling hours will be held on Tuesday February 5, 2013, from 4:00-7:00 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2013, at 9:00am in the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Church 1697 East Main Rd Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Potter League For Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
