Anne E. (Daly) Quigley, 81, of Middletown passed away, Thursday, March 17, 2016 at home. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Quigley. Mrs. Quigley was born in Needham, MA, daughter of the late Leo and Anastasia (Kenney) Daly.In 1964 she came to Newport to start a new chapter in her life. During that time she accomplished many things. She was an executive secretary to the president of Vernon Court Junior College, until it closed. During that time, she was acting president of the college while it went through changes. Newport School for Girls was where she worked next in Newport for 2 years. From there she worked for Newport Electric Corp. and served as a spokeswoman for the President and CEO until her retirement.Anne was active in her community especially with the Salvation Army and was involved in their literacy program, helping little ones to read.When she finally retired, she was active in her community. She was a devout Catholic, active in her church, St. Lucy's in Middletown, helping in all aspects of church life. She enjoyed traveling to Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina with St. Lucy's Church members.She went to the sick with communion, held prayer groups and rosary groups at local nursing homes. Anne was awarded volunteer of the year a few years ago at Forest Farm Health Care Center. She made time for her family and friends. Her memberships include, the Jaycees, Hibernians, Chicks, and Middletown Senior Center. Anne's hobbies included NY Times Crossword Puzzles, crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She was an avid Boston Red Sox and Patriot Fan and loved Silver Sneakers, bird watching and feeding the birds.She leaves her children: Robert "Chip" Haveron and his wife Beth of Royersford, PA, John M. Quigley and Jane Maguire of Southhold, NY, Michael S. Quigley and his wife Leah of Sonoma, CA and Jeannie Q. Dunn and her husband Thomas of Hebron, KY.Anne also leaves her sister Barbara Paris of Weldon Spring, MO and her niece Jane Sweeney Kent of Newport, as well as six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 8:00AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.
