Carolyn R. Almeida, age 73, of Middletown died Friday, February 22, 2013, at Heatherwood Nursing and Subacute Center of Newport, RI. Mrs. Almeida was born June 2, 1939, in Newport, RI. She is the daughter of the late Anthony and the late Laura (Lewis) Souza. She was the wife of the late Albert A. Almeida. Mrs. Almeida was employed as a Nurses Aide at Blenheim for many years. She was a communicant of St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Middletown. She also was a ceramics and crafts enthusiast and loved flowers.She is survived by her daughter, Lynette Vincent and her significant other Gary Jordan of East Providence, RI, her brother William Souza and his wife Judy Souza of Newport, RI, her granddaughter, Nicole Amesbury and her husband Christofer of Rumford, RI, and her ex son-in-law, Robert Vincent.She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward Souza and Raymond Souza, and her sisters Dorthoy Silvia and Barbara Silvia.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 8:00am, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucy's Catholic Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, from 4:00-7:00pm, in the Memorial Funeral Home.Burial will be in the St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.Memorial donations in her memory can be made to the American Cancer Society of Rhode Island, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886.
