(Romaine) Jemo, 92, of Middletown, RI formerly of 14 Summer St, Newport, RI died Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI surrounded by family. Born in Baltimore, MD on October 28, 1919, she was the wife of the late John Jemo and daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Doucette) Romaine. Helen worked at the La Forge Tea Room, Winsor McGann's Restaurant and retired in 1981 after working 13 years as a cook for the State of RI's school lunch program in Newport. She belonged to the St Joseph's Rosary and Alter Society and D.L.S. Mothers Club. She leaves her sons Paul Jemo of Lakeside, CA, Stephen Jemo and his wife Mickey of Middletown, RI, her daughters-in-law Sandra "Sam" Silvia of Middletown, RI, and Eve Jemo of North Scituate, RI. She leaves 10 grandchildren Stacey OHanley, John Jemo, Julie Faucher, Jeff Jemo, Kelly Jemo Metz, Thomas Jemo, Nicholas Jemo, Stephen Jemo, Jr., Kevin Jemo and Elizabeth Jemo; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Helen also leaves a family of compassionate friends who provided loving care to her for 10 years at the John Clarke Retirement and Nursing Center. She was the mother of the late Jack, Peter and Thomas Jemo and sister of the late George Romaine, Bernard Romaine, Ruth Aggott, Emma Edes and Mary Hair. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 25, from 5:00-7:00 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 26 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, , with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport, RI.
