Middletown, RI - Margaret (Devine) Kilmer, 87, of Oak Street Middletown, Newport, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport.She was the wife of the late Victor J. Kilmer.Born in Woonsocket, RI on February 15, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Theresa V. (Gilbert) Devine. During the Depression, Peggy's father died when she was only 3 years old, and her aunt and uncle, John and Margaret Winters helped raise her in Newport. She was a graduate of St. Catherine's Academy in Newport, class of 1944. Peg began work as a bookkeeper for the former Lincoln Store on Thames Street. After raising her family in Middletown, she went back to work as a clerk in the Middletown Public Schools. Over the years, her grandchildren always brought the greatest joy to her day.She is survived by her sons Robert Kilmer of Middletown, RI; Paul Kilmer and his wife Lori of Escondido, CA; and David Kilmer and his wife Elizabeth of Middletown, RI, her grandchildren Jeffrey R. Kilmer and his fiance Ashley Evans of Tiverton, RI, Erin E. Kilmer of Somerville, MA, and Colleen M. Kilmer of Middletown, RI. She also leaves a dear niece Deborah Moriarty and her husband William of Newport, RIHer funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 24, with calling hours held at 8:00am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
