Raylene L Bento

Portsmouth, RI - Raylene L Bento, 83, of Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, July 8, 2012 at St. Annes Hospital, Fall River, MA. She was the wife of the late John J Bento.Born in Concord, NH on Oct. 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Catherine (OBrien) Barton. Mrs. Benton was an avid gardener and loved spending time out in her garden, which she was very proud of. She loved traveling with her husband, visiting over 29 countries, during their lives. In her younger years, she loved knitting. Her children and grandchildren were very important to her, and she loved the time they spent together. She worked for many years as a teachers aide in the Portsmouth School system, until retirement She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.She is survived by her daughter Raylene Allen and her husband Glenn D. of Portsmouth, RI, her son Thomas A Metcalfe and his wife Linda of Tiverton, RI, and her sisters Claire Martinez and Carole Glazier both of Newport, RI. She is also survived by her grandsons Alexander E Allen of Charlestown, MA, and Thomas A Metcalfe III of Maine. She is preceded in death by her sister Norma Tulley. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday July 11, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the Connors Funeral Home 55 W. Main Rd. Portsmouth. Her funeral will be held on Thursday July 12, 2012 at 10:00 am in the funeral home.
