Rheta C. Mcbrier

Rheta McCann McBrier, died on September 23, 2015 in Auburn, MA. She was born June 2, 1920 in Newport RI to Peter and Katherine McCann. She was the wife of the late Col. Robert W McBrier and mother of the late Robert W. McBrier. A "Native Newporter", she was active in the Mosaic Club, Pocasset Country Club, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the former Rose Hawthorne Home in Fall River. She worked for many years at NUSC and RCA in Middletown. She was also former member of St. Joseph's Church. She leaves her daughter, Constance McBrier and her partner, Theresa Mayer of Auburn, MA, a brother, William McCann and his wife Patricia of Florida, two grandchildren, Robert A. McBrier and Stephanie P. Hannett, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rheta was the sister of the late Marion Carlisle, Kaye Burr, Florence McCann, and Jack McCann.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3 at 12:00 Noon at St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Rd in Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be private.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NEADS, Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans, PO Box 1100, Princeton, MA 01541 or a charity of ones choice.
