Sadie Sye (Hidson) Soliozy Newport, RI - Sadie Sye Hidson Soliozy, 84, of Newport, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Newport Hospital, surrounded in love by her family. She was the beloved wife of Charles S. Soliozy. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on June 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Hidson and Sarah Marie Anderson Hidson McClean. Sye loved to play tennis and volleyball and loved swimming. She was a member of the Indoor Tennis Club and also enjoyed painting at the Edward King House. Sye was a talented artist. Above all she most loved spending time with her husband and family, cooking, baking, knitting for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She doted on her grandchildren and was the worlds best Nanny to them. Sye was a member of St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church where she was married 67 years ago, after meeting the love of her life at age 16 in Edmonton, Alberta during WWII. Sye packed parachutes for the Canadian military then married Charlie just after her 18th birthday. Their life together was a truly unique love story. They were inseparable. Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Stephen T. Soliozy and his wife Patty of Ipswich, MA; her daughter Kathleen Prout of Coronado, CA; her grandchildren, Brendan Prout and his wife Susie of San Diego, CA; Heather Prout Patino and her husband Chris of New York, NY; James Gregory Prout of Coronado, CA; Charles S. Soliozy and his wife Kathryn of Newport, RI; Charissa Soliozy of West Palm Beach, FL; Sadie Soliozy of Boston, MA; Natalie Soliozy of Ipswich, MA; her great grandchildren, James Prout, Christopher Sales, Annika Prout, and Cynnie Patino; and her sister-in-law Catherine Medeiros. She was predeceased by her son Charles Soliozy, Jr., her son-in-law, Rear Admiral James G. Prout, III, USN, and her five brothers and four sisters. A private memorial service was held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, which would have been her 85th birthday. Sye was laid to rest in the Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.
