Ann C. Flanagan, 61, of Phelps Road, Middletown, RI, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at home. Born in Holyoke, MA on February 27, 1954, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Rosetta (O'Neill) Flanagan.Ann served as SubLAN Assistance Coordinator for Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, where she worked since 1976, and was admired for her professionalism and dedication. A graduate of AIC in Springfield, MA, Ann found enjoyment in her friends from work who were like family to her, friends she met through the years, and her family (especially her nieces and nephew of whom she was so proud). She loved dogs, particularly the family Doberman, Clive, and Abbie, the chocolate lab she spoiled at every visit. Ann had many challenges in her life which she met head on and generally with great fortitude. She will leave a hole in the lives of those to whom she was closest.Ann is survived by her brother and sisters, John E. Flanagan, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of McLean, VA, Mary E. Smiley and her husband, Michael, of San Diego, CA, and Carol Palmer and her husband, Chip, of North Kingstown, RI; and was the beloved aunt of her nieces and nephew, Elizabeth Smiley, Tara Flanagan, Colleen Smiley, Grace Palmer and Samuel Palmer; and her extended Palmer Family. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her niece, Nicole Flanagan Ayers.Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 4:00pm-8:00pm in Hambly Brick House, 30 Red Cross Ave, Newport. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM in St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Rd, Middletown.
