Laure A. Thayer

Laure Ann Thayer, 61, of Portsmouth died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Newport Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Providence, RI on October 5, 1953, she is the daughter of Anne (Nixon) Thayer of Portsmouth, and the late John O. Thayer. She was a graduate of St. Anthony's School, Portsmouth High School and the Community College of Rhode Island. She was employed for many years at Newport Grand.She was an avid sports fan and loved the Red Sox and the Patriots. She was a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Portsmouth Free Public Library and served for many years as a member of the Portsmouth High School Athletic Boosters Club. She loved her family, especially spending time with her many nieces and nephews. She loved playing Bingo and enjoyed spending summers at her family's cottage at Roy Carpenter's Beach in Matunuck, RI. Over the years, Laure documented her family's most important and everyday moments through her love of photography. She leaves behind a library of photo albums that will serve as a lasting legacy.In addition to her mother Anne (Nixon) Thayer, she is survived by her siblings, Dr. John Thayer Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Simsbury, CT, Wendy Thayer Aiken and her husband George of Santa Rosa, CA, Mark Thayer and his wife Terri-Lynn of Portsmouth, RI, Jeffrey Thayer and his wife Joan of Collierville, TN and Cynthia Moffitt Underhill and her husband John of South Kingstown, RI.
