Muriel Laura Blackwell

Middletown, RI - Muriel Laura Blackwell, 85, of Middletown, RI, formerly of 58 Pearl St, Newport, died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. Born in Newport, RI on June 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late William and Leona Myers Woodson.Mrs. Blackwell was a longtime member of Community Baptist Church and faithful volunteer in the church soup kitchen. She is survived by three daughters Mary Leona Blackwell of Providence, RI , Barbara Ann Goff of Philadelphia, PA, and June Whye of Warwick, RI, a brother William Woodson of Newport, RI, and a sister Helen Cofield of Newport, six Grandchildren, six Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild. She is preceded in death by a brother Wallace Woodson and a sister Corinne Woodson.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 6, at 11:00 am in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown. Calling hours will be held Thursday, morning from 10-11am in the church before the service.
