Muriel Lewis Murphy

PORTSMOUTH, RI - Muriel Valentine Murphy, 71, died unexpectedely Tuesday, September 27, 2005. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Muriel Babb Valentine.A career nurse, Muriel worked at the Eye Ear Infirmary in Boston, Galluadet College and as a private duty nurse for many years in Jamestown. Muriel will be remembered for her love of life, her independence and her love for animals.She is survived by her sons Jeremiah D. Murphy of Portsmouth, RI, and Paul J. Murphy of San Jose, CA, her daughter Cornelia V. Murphy of Portland, OR, her brother Paul Valentine of Newport, RI, and two grandsons Harry Murphy and Gus Murphy both of San Jose, CA. She was the sister of the late Harriet Valentine Gelfuso.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2005, at 11:00AM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Burial will be private.Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 30, 2005, from 4-8PM, in the Memorial Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923 www.scleroderma.org
