NEWPORT, RI - Muriel Zammer, 83, of 82 Third Street, Newport, RI, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2005, at home. She was the widow of the late Joseph J. Zammer. Born in Newport, RI on June 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Florence Grimes Morgan and Frank J. Morgan Jr. The family moved to Brooklyn, NY when Muriel was seven years old and remained there until she graduated from high school. They returend to Newport in 1941. Mrs. Zammer was employed in the supply depot at the Naval Torpedo Station. Later she worked at the U.S. Naval Hospital in the personnel office. Mr. Mrs. Zammer owned a caf ?Jims Place? during the late sixties early seventies. The building was torn down in 1973, to make way for Americas Cup Avenye. Mrs. Zammer belonged to the AARP and the Point Association. She is survived by her son Kenneth A. Zammer, a local painting contractor and his wife Patricia of Newport, RI, two grandchildren Barbara Zammer and Kenneth J. Zammer both of Newport, RI, three great grandchildren Lily Zammer, Farrah Zammer and Kaylie Zammer all of Newport, RI, and several cousins. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 10:00AM in the Island Cemetery Annex, Van Zandt Avenue, Newport. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are omitted.
