MIDDLETOWN, RI - Nancy L. Burns Miller, 54, of 10 Reardon Drive, Middletown, RI, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at Brigham Women?s Hospital, Boston, MA. She was the wife of Roger Glen Miller. Born in North Kingstown, RI, on December 26, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Lucille Simmons Burns Jr. Nancy grew up a daughter of an Army Seargent, and lived in many places across the country. She worked as a waitress after school, but then enrolled in a Nurse?s Aide program. She enrolled at CCRI for a Nursing Degree at 30 years old, and began working as a nurses aide. She continued school and received her LPN certification and then her RN degree. She worked at the Newport Hosptial for a total of 16 years, retiring in 1997 due to her illness. Nancy received a double lung transplant in 1999 and then a kidney transplant in 2003, receiving the donation from a former co-worker Gayle Jackson. She was a member of St. Joseph?s Church, where she was active with the Rosary and Altar Society, a Euchristic Minister and a member of the Minsitry of Visitation and Consolation. Nancy was also a loved and respected member of the Rhode Island Country Music Association and Rhode Island Country Horizons. Besides her husband of 36 years, she is survived by her brother Robert Burns III of East Providence, RI, her nephew Geoffry Burns of East Providence, RI and her niece Michele Burns of Providence, RI. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at 8:00 AM from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 AM in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
