Natalie Frances Curtin Ward, of 9 Bartlett Road, Middletown, RI, died on Saturday, April 7 at home. She was the wife of the late Robert Carry Ward. She was the daughter of the late Frank D. and Helen McCormick Curtin.Mrs. Ward was a dedicated volunteer to the Newport Hospital over her lifetime. She served on the Corporation at the Newport Hospital and served as Chairlady for six Hospital Balls. She was also the volunteer manager for 10 years for the hospital gift shop. Her most recent and most rewarding responsibility was assisting in recovery and ambulatory surgery at Newport Hospital. She received a citation after her retirement from the US President for serving over 20, 000 hours of volunteer work. Natalie was a member of Hazards Beach and the Redwood Library. Mrs. Ward attended RI State College, and through her husband?s service as a B17 Pilot she was given honorary membership in the 303 Bomb Group, 360 Squadron Eighth Air Force. She was also an avid swimmer, enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader as well, reading histories and biographies.She is survived by her son Francis Curtin Ward of Providence, RI, her daughter Anne Martha Behne of OFallon, IL, her grandchildren SSG Robert Behne, USAF of Europe, Patrick Behne and Christine Behne of Illinois and her great grandson Konnor Behne.She was the sister of the late Helen McCormick.Funeral services and burial are private.Donations in her memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport Bristol Counties - Hospice, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, 02871.
