Natalie Lane Johnson

Natalie Lane Johnson Portsmouth, RI - Natalie Lane Johnson, 78, of 87 Col. Christopher Greene Road, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of Darien, CT passed away January 3, 2008 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Willard E. Johnson. Natalie was a graduate of Durfee High School in Fall River, MA; as well as the Burbank School of Nursing and the Teachers College, both in Fitchburg, MA. She worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her life, working in hospitals and private duty while living in Connecticut. After her family moved to Rhode Island, she worked at the former Edgehill Newport and volunteered with Hospice Care of the Visiting Nurse Service and at Newport Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport, and the First Congregational Church in Fall River, MA; and was also a strong supporter of many charitable organizations throughout her life. She supported the Rose Island Lighthouse Foundation, Aquidneck Land Trust, Thomas Chew Memorial Boys and Girls Club in Fall River, MA, Seaman?s Church Institute, The Potter League for Animals in Middletown, RI, the Preservation Society of Newport and the Salvation Army. She was also an avid gardener and volunteered for the Secret Garden Tours in Newport. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her two daughters, Lynn Johnson of Norwalk, CT and Stacey Johnson Holt of Randolph, MA.A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008, at 2 pm, in Mayflower Hill Cemetery, Taunton, MA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visiting Nurse Service of Newport and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871 or to the Robert Potter League for Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
