Naureen Desmarais

Naureen (Correira) Desmarais 69, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 25, 2014 at home in Portsmouth.Born in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Gertrude Farrea Correira.Naureen owned and operated Naureen's Day Spa in Middletown. Naureen was a loving and compassionate mother who was devoted to her family. She loved music, dancing and art and welcomed any opportunity to share her passions with her family and friends. She owned and operated several beauty salons and day spas on Aquidneck Island. In later years, Naureen spent her time caring for her elderly mother and spending time with her children and grandchildren.She leaves her two sons David J. Desmarais and his fianc Tanzi of Portsmouth and Scott C. Desmarais and his wife Nicole of North Stonington, CT. She also leaves four grandchildren, David Desmarais Jr., Ashley Desmarais, Amanda Hernandez and Krystal Jewell as well as five great grandchildren.Naureen was the sister of the late Joseph A. Correira and John D. Correira.Funeral Services will be held, Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at10:00am in St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI. Committal prayers will take place graveside at St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday in the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
