Neil Joe Barnes

Newport, RI - Neil Joe Barnes, 62, of 10 Russell Avenue, Newport, RI, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.He was born in Cohasset, MA on August 26, 1947. Joe enlisted in the Navy and served in Vietnam in DeNang. He returned to Newport and began his career as a painter. Joe loved taking trips to Foxwoods and spending time by the water. Joe was a quiet man, never a bother to those around him. He is survived by a large extended family, including Beverly Ann Hart of Newport, RI, her sons Chris Vars, Matthew Hart, Jeromy Hart, Anthony Hart and Robert Blair and D. J. Bruce Slaghter, Tina Reiter, Manuel Sousa, Joe Baldaia, Angel Martinez, Jimmy Moriarty, Gabriel Heredia and Jerry Bienvenve. His burial will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at 9:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport with a funeral service at 10:00am in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
