Nell Gottier

MIDDLETOWN - To know Nell Gottier was to love her. She had a smile, a kind word, a compliment, or an encouraging word for everyone. She loved to surround herself with people and had enormous energy, shy wit and a love of life.Nell went home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday morning, October 28, 2015. Nell, 96, was born on October 12, 1919 in Storrs, CT. She was a daughter of the late Angelo and Anita (DeFabrizio) Dinenno. She married the late Henry Gottier, Sr. in 1940. She lived in Canton, CT and Framingham MA, before moving to Middletown, RI in 2007.Nell was a talented homemaker, and also worked part time at Waring Blenders, So-Fro Fabrics and Sears. After retirement, she volunteered for nearly a decade at the Framingham Union Hospital, and the Middletown Library. She loved her friends, affectionately known as "Mrs. G". A lifelong knitter, she made numerous sweaters, prayer shawls and children's sweaters for donation through the church. Always ready to help others, she could be counted on to help out when some sewing or crafts project needed work.Nothing meant more to her than her family. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Ed Howard of Westport, CA, and Nancy and Frank Jurnak of Prudence Island, RI, and her two sons and daughters-in-law, Henry, Jr. and Jody Gottier of Unionville, CT, and Harold and Jane Gottier, of Simsbury CT; five grandchildren, Rachel Van Hook, Kristen Gore, Ashley Gottier, Brian Gottier and Melissa Gottier, and one great-granddaughter, Tatum Van Hook. Throughout her life, she enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and joy they brought to her life.Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 1 from 11 am -2 p.m. at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 2, at 11 a.m. in St. Lucys Catholic Church, 909 W Main Rd, Middletown, RI 02842. Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at 11 am at St. Mary's Cemetery, 386 Main Street, Coventry, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lucys Catholic Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown RI 02842.
