Portsmouth, RI - Norbert H. ?Knobby? Chretien, 72, of 21 Bourbon Street Portsmouth, RI, died Friday, February 13, 2004 at home.He was the husband of Margaret Gannon Chretien of Portsmouth, RI. Born in Pawtucket, RI on December 5, 1931, he was the son of the late Leo and Rose Lydon Chretien. Mr. Chretien was Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War. He had been a store manager at Almacs Supermarket for 40 years. Mr. Chretien was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Portsmouth Lodge #05390. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons Leo T. Chretien, MD of Brazoria, TX, and Christopher J. Chretien of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter Glenda R. Chretien of Maryland, his brother Leo Chretien of Jamestown, RI, two sisters Shirley Oldham of North Attleboro, MA, and Gail Altmeyer of Rumford, RI, and seven grandchildren.His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, to be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth. Donations in his memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services Of Newport Bristol Cos, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
