Norman Chester Letiecq Middletown, RI - Norman Chester Letiecq, of 600 Valley Road, Middletown, RI, formerly of 8 Francisco Drive, Middletown, passed away peacefully in his 97th year on Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. He was the husband of the late Eleanor Marion Paika Letiecq. He was born in Worcester, MA on July 1, 1908. He was the son of the late Napoleon and Lily Beaudoin Letiecq.Mr. Letiecq was a tool and die maker and a millwright, who worked as a foreman at the former Naval Torpedo Station before and during WW-II. He then worked as a foreman at Monowatt wiring devices before becoming a partner in Garreaus Machine. He returned to NUWC as a mechanical engineering technician prior to retiring in 1976. He worked in the industry for 50 years. He also served in the Coast Guard during World War-II. He was a Communicant of St. Lucys Church. Mr. Letiecq was an avid golfer, honorable member and former president of Wanumetonomy Country Club. He had a zest for life, and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, tennis and track as a young man and later as an advocate for youth golf programs. He is survived by his sons Gary N. Letiecq of Middletown, RI and Tarpon Springs, FL, and Ronald T. Letiecq of Beverly Hills, FL. He leaves six grandchildren, Robert Letiecq of Columbia, MD, David Letiecq of Washington, DC, and Brian Letiecq of New York, NY, Deborah Letiecq of Newport, RI, Nicole Letiecq of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Bethany Letiecq of Bozeman, MT. He was the brother of the late Edmund Letiecq, George Letiecq, Adlard Letiecq, Florence Weeks, Blanche Jackson and Lillian Allen.Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at 9:00 am in St. Lucy?s Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Friday, March 24, 2006 from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
